Fundraising is required for gymnasts registering for the Parent/tot level and higher. A per gymnast fee of $20 or $30 is added during registration, depending on what class your child is in.
This fee will be added to registration during each 12 week session - Fall, Winter & Spring.
NPGC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Fundraising funds are used to replace and maintain equipment & repair and upgrade the facility to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Our parent/tot class is designed to introduce the sport of gymnastics to children 2-3 years of age while providing a unique bonding experience for parent and child. This is a 45 minute class where the parents are out on the floor with their children helping to direct behavior, assist their child through circuits and stations and making sure that each child is provided a safe, fun experience. We use a structured, play-centered approach to focus on basic locomotor movements, balance and introductory gymnastics skills.
Potty Training is a plus!
Our Pre-K class transitions those who have taken the parent/tot class to independence and prepares those who are getting ready to advance to beginner I for the skills, strength and patience they will need. Generally children ages 4-5.
Beginner I is generally populated by children 6-8 years of age but we do, on occasion, permit students who are 5 to join the class with the discretion of their NPGC pre-k coach and the parent. Beginner I shifts to a skills focus and works to build a solid foundation of basic gymnastics skills that will be utilized throughout any gymnastics career no matter how short or long that may be.
Beginner II is a continuation in the development of strength and technique needed to master basic gymnastics skills. In this level students will continue to master the beginner I skills while learning the skills that build off of them. The passing of beginner I is a prerequisite for this class.
Older beginners is a combination of beginner I and beginner II for students who are just getting started in gymnastics at 9 years of age or older or who need a refresher course after being away from the sport for a while. We have had many students that have showN interest in getting started at an older age but felt uncomfortable being in a class with younger kids.
The Intermediate class is 75 minutes long and begins to work a more advanced skill set. Prerequisites of prior beginners classes. As with any sport as the skills get harder they also take longer to learn. Thus the intermediate level will also begin to require greater amounts of focus, patience and determination. Encourage your child to stay positive, work hard and have fun and the rest will hopefully fall into place over time.
Our Advanced class is 90 minutes long. As indicated by the class title, this group will be working on an advanced level of skills by building off of the base that has been created throughout Beginner I, Beginner II and Intermediate.
Pre-team is our last recreational class offering before reaching our competitive team. Each pre-team class meets for two hours. The purpose of pre-team is to refine and enhance current skills, continue to build on the skill base by learning news skills, and add more combinations of skills. Those in pre-team should start to learn and understand the language of gymnastics and the requirements needed if students choose to try and move on to a competitive setting.
